Old and New

The best part about traveling through some of the oldest parts of Europe is seeing stunning buildings pop up on all sides. My eyes had so much to feast upon and my fingers were furiously working the cameras, much to my husband’s chagrin (this is how one ends up w/1,200 plus pictures). In particular, the most interesting snapshots occurred when old and new buildings were found standing side by side.

The first picture is of Stephansdom (right) and Haas Haus (left) in Vienna, and the second one was taken near the Mustek metro near Wenceslas Square in Prague:

Another striking example of the “old and new” juxtaposition is Frank Gehry’s Dancing House in Prague, which architecturally depicts Ginger Rogers and Fred Astair. Though the “feet” are definitely dancing, from this angle it looks like Ginger is giving a heartfelt hug to Fred:
