Beam Me Up, Scotty!

While all of the cities we visited were very pedestrian-friendly, we had fun hopping on and off of various public transportation options when our feet started throbbing from all of the exploring on foot. There were subway trains, some more modern than others (a.k.a. “Darth Vader” train in Vienna):

There were cute little tram cars and furniculars (yep, that’s what they’re called):

Rick Steves would probably cluck his tongue upon hearing we wasted money on bus tours in Budapest and Vienna (rest assured, Mr. Steves, definitely not in Prague). But when the sun is shining and you got nothing else going on, there’s nothing like being whisked from one place to another atop a double decker bus:

Some of the native folks in each city were rocking their own modes of transportation (probably shaking their fists at double deckers moving at a leisurely pace), like these Smart Cars promoting breast cancer prevention and this lady in high heels navigating through traffic (where everyone drives like a NYC cab driver) on her scouter. Now THAT’S what I call ballsy:
